Who runs private boat trips from Marsaxlokk? A local guide to St Peter's Pool and the south coast, our boats, what's included, half-day vs full-day options and how to book.
Prime Charters runs private charters and shared tours departing from Marsaxlokk, the fishing village on Malta's south-east coast, and also offers pickup from Sliema. St Peter's Pool and the unspoilt southern coastline are right on the doorstep. Our own boats are Tuna Princess for up to 12 guests and Grecale for up to 29 guests, and we also list boats from partner owners on our website.
If you're staying in the south of Malta, or you'd rather see the island's quieter southern coastline, starting in Marsaxlokk puts you right next to it. Here is what the south coast offers from the sea, and how to arrange a trip.
Our trips depart from Marsaxlokk, and we also offer pickup from Sliema. Please check your booking details for your meeting point before you set off.
We don't run a fixed route. Your skipper plans the day around the weather and the sea. The stops on the day depend on the conditions. We may also swap stops to keep you comfortable and safe. Expect that flexibility on any trip you book.
St Peter's Pool is very close to Marsaxlokk. It is a horseshoe-shaped bay with clear turquoise water and limestone cliffs. It's one of Malta's best-known natural swimming spots, but getting there by land is difficult. Seeing it by boat avoids the awkward access from land and shows you the bay and its rock formations from the water.
Because it's so close to Marsaxlokk, St Peter's Pool fits into shorter trips and sunset cruises as well as full days. We visit it for sightseeing from the water. We don't always anchor there: whether we stop depends on the conditions on the day.
A full day gives you time to go further. The Full Day Private Charter covers Malta, Comino and Gozo. Destinations we list in that direction include:
These are a long way from Marsaxlokk, so they only work on a full day and in suitable weather. If one of them is the reason you're booking, tell us when you enquire so the skipper can plan for it.
Tuna Princess: up to 12 guests. She is a 10-metre former tuna-farming support vessel, converted for private charters. Her working history means she is strong and stable. On board you get an open deck, seating, a swim ladder, snorkelling gear and floaties, and you can buy food and drinks on board. She runs half-day, full-day and sunset charters, and suits families, couples and groups of friends.
Grecale: up to 29 guests. She is a 21-metre vessel built in 1995, originally for the Italian Navy, and since restored for charter. She has large open decks and a captain and crew, with snorkelling gear and floaties on board and food and drinks available to buy. Grecale suits corporate days, celebrations and big family groups, and she does both half-day and full-day charters.
Partner boats. We also list boats from partner boat owners on our website and handle the bookings for them. Pickup points, on-board extras and food and drink arrangements vary from owner to owner, and are shown on each boat's listing.
Half-day options:
Full-day and evening options:
Rule of thumb: a half day is plenty for St Peter's Pool and the nearby south coast. Book a full day if you want Comino or Gozo, or if you'd rather not watch the clock. Our guide to half-day vs full-day charters goes into more detail.
Our private experiences for occasions include:
All our prices are live on the website through our booking engine. Open any experience or boat page linked above to see current prices and book. You can also reach us directly:
When you enquire, tell us how many people are coming, your preferred date, and whether you want a half day, a full day or a sunset trip. Also mention any stop you particularly want to see. That lets us match you with the right boat and plan the route.
